So we’ve just listed a discount code from Walktall, with an expiry date of Friday.
Some of you will probably find this infuriating. It means that you’ll need to spot the offer quickly in order to take advantage of it. We realise that this isn’t always easy. So why does the offer run for such a limited period of time?
Many retailers do issue vouchers in this way. Some are open to suggestions and we do try to make the case for extending expiry dates where possible. But retailers aren’t always open to such suggestions. This isn’t because they are looking to annoy potential customers. It’s often because margins are extremely tight and they can only afford to run a promotion for a limited time period.
Indeed, we know that some stores run such promotions as loss-leaders. In effect, they make a loss on the first sale because of the discount voucher. They hope that this will make sense in the long run because customers will love their products and service so much that they’ll come back again…and again…and again!
But there’s clearly a risk involved for the retailer in many cases.
Hopefully this explains why you will occasionally see offers that do only run for a short time period. We know that it’s still frustrating.
Is there anything that you can do to avoid this issue? It’s not always realistic for you to check this site every day. We know that. But you can sign up to our mailing list to get regular updates on the very latest codes. That can certainly help.
We want to make sure that you have access to all of the very latest offers. We’re here, after all, to help you save money.
